How to make a tassel with embroidery floss - the video tutorial

Hello, and welcome! I love tassels, and today I'm going to show you how I make them.

I usually place tassels in the zipper pulls of the pouches and purses I sew, but in fact you can use them for many other things, from hanging on door handles to embellishing warpped gifts.

And the best thing? They a really easy to make!

To create your own tassels you need:
  • a rectangle of thin cardboard or cardstock (the one I used in for these tassels is 8 x 5 cm (with the 5 cm corresponding to the approximate height of the tassels) but if you want your tassels longer or shorter you can adjust sizes easily)
  • embroidery floss. I like the silky look of the tassels made with embroidery floss, but you can really use any kind of yarn as look as it's not too thick.
  • a sewing or embroidery needle with an eye large enough for the floss to pass through
  • a pair of scissors
