It's been a while since I posted a new addition to the DIY Play Food Series, so last weekend I decided to get down to work and finish one of the patterns I had on my list to share for quite some time.
So today I bring you Eggs & Sausage. All made of felt and all ready to be played with, of course!
So today I bring you Eggs & Sausage. All made of felt and all ready to be played with, of course!
These are very easy to make, but I took some pictures and added a pattern sheet, to save you the trouble of having to take measures and draft them from scratch.
All
you need are bits of felt in the right colors (white, yellow and brown - scraps work wonderfully, too), matching sewing thread (yellow and brown) and a bit of polyester filling. You can download the patterns here.
Let's
start with the eggs. Cut both pieces from the pattern and lay the egg yellow in place.
Insert a bit of polyester filling through the opening (not too much, just enough to give it a realistic 3-D effect) and sew it shut. And that's it: one play egg ready in less than 5 minutes.
Now cut the sausage piece and add a few stitches on one of the shorter edges:
Pull the thread to gather the felt and add a few more stitches to secure it in place:
Do the same with the opposite edge and them turn the piece inside out. You should have something looking like this:
Start sewing along the the open edge, adding polyester filling as you go, until you are left with a finished sausage:
You're done! Breakfast of champions for dolls is ready!
Place it on the stove to make sure it's properly cooked...
...and serve it with a glass of milk...
...or maybe with some greens to keep it healthier...
I love playing with felt food too, can you tell?
