Kitchen Towels in a Jar gift set

Hello, and welcome! Today I'm going to show you how to make a kitchen towel gift set - eco-friendly and inexpensive, with is a great combination!

What you need:
  • a medium to large glass jar or mason jar - you can perfectly upcycle a glass jar you already have at home, as I did
  • kitchen towels (adjust the number of towels to include in the set to the size of your jar
  • an extra square of matching fabric (large enough to cover the lid of your jar with a few centimeters to spare) and a piece of ribbon to tie a bow over the neck of the jar - this is optional and you only really need it if you're upcycling a jar with an ugly lid that needs to be covered, but personally I think it looks great whatever the case.

First. let's deal with the towels. You can buy them of course, but I much prefer making my own. Here are the three kitchen towels I made for this set using my reusable kitchen towels tutorial -  cotton fabric on one side and terry cloth on the other (still waiting to be ironed in the picture below)

Then, if needed, work on the lid of the jar. I glued the lid in the center of the extra square of fabric (after trimming the edges with pinking shears to avoid fraying) and then glued the fabric over the sides too (I was upcycling an old food jar with had some inked inscriptions around the lid which I wanted to hide). Alternatively, you can also paint the lid.

And...there's honestly little else you need to do. Fold or roll up the towels so that they fit inside the jar:

Put the lid in place and tie a pretty bow:

And there you have it: one perfect homemade gift that you can assembly quickly and that will be a success for sure!

And for extra detail, you can add a pretty gift tag too.
