DIY Tiny Love Letter Keychain

Need a quick and easy gift for Valentine's Day? This love letter keychain can be made in under 10 minutes and is just the cutest thing ever!

DIY Tiny Love Letter Keychain

What you need:

- red and white felt

- fabric glue

- one keyring with a short chain attached (the chain can be replaced with a piece of cord or ribbon)

From the red felt, cut a shape according to these measurements:

Fold the felt as shown below and glue the sides. It's optional, but these sewing clips are useful to keep everything in place while the glue dries:

Now fold the rest of the felt, closing the envelope, and glue again:

From the white felt, cut a small heart. I used my Sizzix for this, but you can free-hand it or use a heart shape printed off the Internet as a pattern. Glue the heart in place:

Punch a small hole in one of the top sides of the envelope. A Crop-a-Dile (or something similar) is useful for this, but if you don't have it on hand use a thick embroidery needle or the sharp tip of your scissors to carefully open the hole.

Now attach the keyring and chain:

As everything is glued in place, obviously the envelope doesn't open and you can't place anything inside. If you want an opening version, instead of gluing the flap in place, secure a two bits of velcro under the heart and it will do the trick (although, because it's a small surface, be prepared for low adherence, especially after opening and closing a lot of times).

But seriously, even the non-functioning version of the envelope is super cute, and not just to hold your keys: it makes a great bag or backpack charm to use on Valentine's Day (and all year-round too).

Have fun and Happy Tuesday,
