DIY keychain envelope pouch {tutorial}

Hello, and welcome! Today I'm sharing here the tutorial for a very easy sewing project: a small envelope pouch which can be attached to a keychain.

What you need:
  • two rectangles of fabric (mine were approximately 8 x 25 cm, but you can adjust the size as needed). This size is just perfect to hold a bank card.
  • one rectangle of batting (same size as the fabric rectangles) (iron on batting works just fine)
  • one smaller strip of fabric, as shown in the image below, to create the key ring loop (alternatively, you can use a piece of ribbon)
  • one key ring
  • a pair of plastic snaps

Instructions:

Place both fabric rectangles one on top of the other, right sides together, with the batting either ironed onto the wrong side of one of the pieces or just placed on top of one of the wrong sides of the fabric (if you're using regular batting and not iron on).

Pin everything in place and sew around the edges of the two longest sides and one of the shorter sides (leaving the other sort side of the rectangle open).

Turn inside out through the opening. Fold the edges of the open side inwards and top stitch (effectively closing the opening).

Fold the smaller piece of fabric (for the key ring hoop) bias-tape like and sew or glue it together (for these smaller pieces I usually just use glue):

Then fold the mail pouch piece as shown below, tucking the folded strip of fabric in between one of the sides:

Top stitch all around (except for the folded bottom of the pouch):

Finally, add the snaps and put the key ring in place:
