Keeping it Real in 2019

Hello, and welcome to a new year! I hope all your wishes come true in 2019.

I spent the last few months trying to decide where I wanted the blog to be this year, but a few of my plans were thwarted by Google's decision to discontinue Google+. So I had to regroup and, in the end, I decided to bring forward something that has been on my mind for a long time now - opening an Etsy shop!

Initially I wanted the shop to wait a couple of years more, as I wanted to give careful consideration to what I was going to sell and to build up an inventory. But in the end, I decided to take the leap this year, and we'll see how that goes.

The shop already has a name - because Keeping it Real was already taken, I'm calling it The Really Crafty Store instead.

I'm currently working on inventory (it's going to be mostly sewing and felt items, with a few paper crafts in between), researching pricing, etc, and I will let you all know when it's up and running. I have no idea if this is going to be a successful venture or not, but at least I'll be doing something I love - and with love. And then, you never know until you try it, right?

There are lots of other improvements I would love to bring to the blog during this year, but there are only 24 hours in each day - you'll have to wait and see what I realistically have time for.

So, as usual,  instead of a long list of goals that I would have a hard time making happen, I decided on a one word goal: handmade. This simple goal will work several ways - it will provide me with inspiration to write blog posts throughout the year, I'll be able to do one of the things I love the most, which is creating special gifts for the family and fiends and, at the same time it will hopefully help me build up inventory for my future Etsy shop.
The Really Crafty Link Party will continue as usual, because I love going through everyone's posts, reading and commenting. As I'm always struggling to be more active on social media and to reply to everyone's comments, the party is the best way for me to interact with other people online and I just love it!

Thank you all for your continued support and happy New Year!

  1. Woo!! Congrats on making the step! Back when I originally opened my shop, I was worried about having a substantial amount of inventory available, but what I quickly came to realize, it doesn't matter if you have one thing or 100 - get yourself out there, and promote it. No matter how many you have in there, they will be available in search, and open the door to traffic, and custom orders. I have also found that digital patterns sell WAY better than physical items. Best wishes! Can't wait to visit the shop!

    1. Thank you Alexandra! I'm now researching things like shipping costs and Etsy fees, to see how I can put it all together, and I'm hoping to get the store up and running soon!
Thank you for stopping by, and happy 2019!
