Hello and welcome. Today I'm back here to show you how to make cloth diapers for your little girl's dolls. They come together so quickly and are so easy to make - why buy when you can make your own?
Here's the tutorial:
What you need:
- the pattern - download to print here - the pattern works for dolls between 35 and 40 cm high. For smaller or bigger dolls adjust size accordingly
- cute fabric for the exterior of the diaper
- quilted fabric for the lining - you can get pre-quilted fabric at most stores but if you don't want to spend the money, use a soft flannel or terry cloth (an old towel is perfect for this project)
- bits of velcro
- matching sewing thread
Instructions:
- Cut the diaper piece and the lining
- Place both pieces right sides together and sew all around, leaving a small opening to turn inside out.
- Turn inside out. It should look like this:
- Top stitch all around, closing the opening shut
- Test the diaper on your doll, to decide where better to place the velcro. Use pins or disappearing ink to mark the spots
- Cut small pieces of velcro and sew them in place as shown below
And you're done! Here's the finished diaper:
Now make a few more and let your little girl have fun changing them!
And because this doll diaper was made using only materials I already had at home, it counts as a destashing project too.
See below my other destashing projects of 2018 so far:
Destashing #1: scrappy crochet blanket
Destashing #2: DIY Play Food: cloth napkins & napkin rings
Have fun, and happy Monday,
