The easiest chocolate cake ever

My daughter loves chocolate cake and, to be honest, if I'm going to let her have it, I prefer the cake to be homemade so that I can at least control the quality of the ingredients and the amount of sugar added. But if there's one thing I really dislike when making chocolate cakes is the need to melt the chocolate beforehand. I confess I have no idea how some videos I've seen make it look easy, because for me it certainly isn't. I always end up with unmelted chunks of chocolate, water mixed in and a messy stove top.

And that is the main reason why I like this recipe: you don't need to melt the chocolate, you can just use powdered cocoa, and you still get all the taste of chocolate cake. Or so the experts (i.e., my daughter) tell me.

Besides, it's really quick and easy to make too.

Ingredients:
  • 125 grams of powdered cocoa
  • 75 grams of sugar
  • 70 grams of butter or margarine
  • 100 grams of flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 3 eggs

Instructions:

Mix sugar, butter/margarine and powdered cocoa together, and then add the eggs, the baking powder and finally the flour.

Pour batter onto a greased cake pan and put in the oven for about 30 minutes until fully baked.

Seriously, could it be any easier?

    1. No icing, though you can add it if you like. I always try to keep my cakes as simple as possible, except if I'm making them for a special occasion.
