Welcome to the second week of December, and to the fourth installment of the DIY Play Food series. After the box of doughnuts, the felt cupcakes and the bag of candy, today I decided to bring you a healthier option: apples. Made entirely of felt, of course!
Check out below how to make these apples!
First, you need to download the pattern (here) and cut the felt as indicated. For the apples I used green, red and yellow felt, for the leaves a deeper shade of green, and dark brown for the stem. In addition to this you'll need matching sewing thread and a bit of polyester filling.
Sew each of the pattern pieces, leaving a small opening at
Fill the apple with polyester filling through the opening and sew it almost shut, from top to bottom. And I say almost because you'll want to leave a very small opening at the top of the apple, to insert the stem.
Roll the stem piece and sew it to create a small felt stick:
Insert the stem on the small hole you left open at the top of the apple and sew it in place.
Cut a leaf (or two) and sew it in place too.
Your apple is ready!
Now make as many as you want...
...in several different colors...
...and give them to your kids to enjoy...
...as much as you enjoyed sewing these apples!

Yes, they do love them. The problem is that I have two kids and made three apples. I urgently need to make at least one more, or they'll be fighting over them forever...
