(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - a day on the rails

Ever since he was a baby, my son has been fascinated by everything that moves, from cars to planes. But trains have always been one of his favorite means of transport, and I've lost count of the amount of play trains and rail tracks we have at home.

My kids are used to ride on the train from our house to Lisbon, but while the school was out I decided to take my son to Santa Apolónia, the old Lisbon central train station, from where trains to the various parts of the country still depart. This train station holds a lot of childhood memories for me, and I hadn't been there in a while, so it was nice to go back too.

We were there for a long time because we of course had to see at least a couple of trains depart and others arrive. My son had to cross all authorized crossings over the rails, check the size of the engines and even race a departing train until the end of the platform.

Overall, it was a great afternoon and it makes me wish I had more free time to spend with him like this.

  1. My son would have loved to have seen all these. We frequently visit our local train station just to see the trains arrive and depart the platform.

    1. Well...I love trains too, though probably not for the same reason. Trains remind me of travelling and even though I've just returned from our vacations, I would love go on another trip again...Anyway, thank you for stopping by!
