DIY Summer Photo Frame

Originally I had intended to finish this project in time to participate in the July Craft Challenge over at 2 Crochet Hooks, but, as usual, life got in the way and I never managed to complete it in time.

This weekend, in between painting the living room and taking the kids to the beach for a while, I put on my list of chores to finish a series of projects that have been pending for a while, and this one was one of them.

It's a simple wood photo frame that I got at at dollar store, painted in a summery shade of blue. If almost forgot to take a picture of the original frame, but this is how it looked when I was already prepping it to be painted:

And right after painting:

Then I searched through the box of shells we've collected over the past few years (it's one of my daughter's favorite activities at the beach) and selected a few to glue on the frame.

Here is the finished frame:

For now, it holds the a photo my husband took eleven years ago out of a hotel balcony on our last summer vacation before we got married. But I can't wait to replace it with a family picture taken this summer!

Anyway, this is a simple project that anyone can do (in my experience, children love to create and embellish photo frames) and it's a wonderful way to save and display all those awesome summer memories.

Have a great week!

    1. Thank you Julie. Actually, to paint it I "stole" my daughter's kid paints for Ikea, but don't tell anyone, because I think the color looks great!

  16. This is just as cute, if not more so, than all the picture frames they sell in the beachside souvenir shops. What's even better is that yours is so much cheaper and you get the fun of making it yourself! Thanks so much for sharing at Share The Wealth Sunday!
