We are still off work and enjoying the final days of our vacation. Next
week the kids go back to school and a new year begins for all of us.
On September 2nd, however, we will be celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday and I just wanted to show you the party favor baskets I made for her. And leave you with a small tutorial, in case you want to do something similar.
These baskets are very easy to make, come together pretty quickly and, because of their size, are a great scrap buster.
You will need a circle of felt (cut it as large as you want your basket to be), a rectangle of felt long enough to go around the circle (the side of the basket), and a small strip of felt for the handle.
First, sew the shorter edges of the rectangle together to form a circle:
Attach the side of the basket to the felt circle (the bottom). Pin all around first...
...and then sew:
And finally, add the handle:
Your basket is ready. You can leave it as is, or embellish as you see fit. I glued some cure ribbon all around:
And here it is: a cute alternative to those plastic store bought party favor bags! And cheaper too, if you use felt scraps like I did!
Enjoy,
Terea this is adorable, you make me think of Easter time!!
ReplyDeleteYes, those baskets do look a bit like Easter, even though I made them for a birthday party instead. But maybe I'll use the same tutorial to make Easter baskets next time...
DeleteSo very cute! Creative too! Thanks for linking up to Celebrate It link party!
ReplyDeleteThank you Teri, have a great weekend!
DeleteAre they stiff enough to hold up? What did you put in them? Super adorable.
DeleteHere from Home MAtters.
They are just made of thick felt, so they hold up perfectly. If you were to use regular fabric or softer felt I would advise on making two layers with interfacing in between...
DeleteWhat an adorable little basket! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with #FiberTuesdays!

Thank you Anna. I've been sick on and off in the past few weeks, so I've slacked a bit on blogging. But I'll try to k up this week!
