This weekend I still was not able to finish the one handmade gift I have pending. I have bought a substitute just in case I don't have enough time to actually finish it, but I still have not given up.
But I did finish my Christmas wreath. This is actually the first wreath I've ever made, although I have been planning it for several years, ever since we moved to our current home.
It is a very simple wreath, just a base made of cardboard covered in felt, with an assortment of baubles of different sizes in red and silver glued over it.
It took me a while to find out which type of glue worked best to keep the baubles in place over the felt, and then I had to do it in layers, making sure the first baubles were definitely glued in place before adding more on top.
Before starting to glue the baubles I added a piece of red ribbon to hang the wreath once finished.
Taking into account that I already had the cardboard and felt at home
and I just bought the baubles at the dollar store, this was a fairly
easy and cheap project. And the kids loved to help, picking which bauble we would be gluing next.
I finished late last night and the first pictures above were taken before the glue was totally dry, so it is still not hanging on our
front door, its final destination. It is not too elaborate, but I like the mix of the two colors and I also like that it is not symmetrical. It looks simple but Christmas-y and I think overall I'm happy with the result.I definitely foresee more wreaths in my future...
Enjoy,
I love these wreaths! They're so pretty!
