Last week was a slow week for me in the craft department. The birthday party went fantastically well and other than the fact that my house is a mess right now and I'm gearing up for my second eye surgery tomorrow, all is well.
The only thing I had time to finish was the "wheels on circles" garland that had been promised to my son ever since we painted his room over a month ago and ruined (not on purpose) the gingerbread men garland he had hanging there since last Christmas.
Initially I was going to make this garland entirely out of felt but the car shape cutter I own does not cut fabric and because I'm lazy and I didn't want to cut all those little cars by hand, I went the easy route and cut the circles out out of felt (using my Sizzix) and the cars out of colored paper.
I glued the cars onto the felt (both sides, because I'm not hanging the garland against a wall) and then punched holes in the circles:
Then I just passed thread though the holes, tying little knots around each circle to keep them in place...
...and hanged the garland. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures, it was getting dark when I managed to find some time to take them and my camera was not cooperating, but at least you can get an idea of how easy it is to make this kind of garlands, and they hand really cute in a child's room or a nursery.
See you around,
Teresa
A great way to brighten up a child's room.
ReplyDeleteThis is really sweet :) x
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've been planning a butterfly garland for my daughter's room since I first made this one, but I haven't found the time to complete it yet!
