Cute dogs fabric, a new zipper purse, and sewing inspiration

Hello, and welcome!

Finally, finally, I have a completed sewing project to show off. To be honest, this past year my sewing inspiration as been almost nil. I'm not use if it's a reflex of no longer selling physical items at my Etsy shop, which usually kept me in line, or my mother's unexpected passing last May, or a combination of all that.

But the truth is that, other than this quilted table top, I don't remember any other major sewing projects in 2022 or these first months of 2023.

So when a friend asked me to sew a purse using this cute dogs fabric, I jumped at the opportunity.

Frankly, it felt good to turn on the sewing machine, look for lining and a matching zipper, and just go through the familiar motions of cutting the fabric and assembling a basic pouch.

This isn't the first zipper pouch I sew with this fabric, and I don't remember the lining I used for the previous ones, but I thought these floral fabric was just perfect.

Also, instead of adding the usual faux leather tassel, I used this little globe filled with crystals. It originally came with a box of earring making supplies, but since I've never really made earrings I thought it was just perfect as an embellishment here.

And here is the finished pouch. I have a tutorial here, if you want to check it out too.

So yes, I'm very happy this finally happened last weekend. The purse was delivered yesterday to its new owner, and I'm hoping I can now find my sewing mojo back once and for all. I have a lot of projects in my head, I just need to sit down and start making them. Wish me luck.

Happy Tuesday,
