Small summer crochet coasters - with free pattern

Hello, and welcome! As promised earlier today, I'm sharing here the pattern for my new summer crochet coasters.

I made these with leftover yarn from other projects. Due to their smaller size (a diameter of about 10 cm), they are a perfect use for yarn scraps. And although I used only two colors for this set, you can just as well mix and match any colors you want.

The pattern is very easy and the coasters come together pretty quickly.

Row 1: chain twelve over a magic ring. Slip stitch to join (12 stitches in total).

Row 2: chain two, double crochet on the same stitch from the previous row. Then add two double crochets over each stitch from the previous row, until you have 24 stitches all around (including the first two-chain). Slip stitch to join.

Row 3: chain two. Add two double crochets over the next stitch from previous row, then one double crochet in the following one. Alternate the two-double crochets/one double crochet until the end (36 stitches total). Slip stitch to join.

Row 4: this is where I changed colors. Chain three, skip one stitch, single crochet in the next one. Chain one, skip one stitch, single crochet in the next one. Repeat until the end. Slip stitch to join. You will be left with 18 small loops, as shown below.

Row 5: for this last row you will be adding three single crochets over each of the loops from the previous row and one slip stitch over each of the single crochets from the previous row:

And you are done. In next to nothing you will have one cute set of coasters. Make them in bright contrasting colors and they will cheer you up all summer long!

Have a wonderful week!
