We had a busy weekend, not much time to finish projects. The only thing finished were the pom pom hair clips. I had actually made one a while ago but then yarn and pom pom maker were stuck in a bag in the unfinished projects pile and forgotten. Last Saturday I found the bag while browsing around my sewing closet and decided to make a pair and give them to my daughter to be finally worn.
While making the second hair clip of the pair I took some photos to make a mini-tutorial, although there is really no difficulty in the process.
The first thing is obviously to make a pom pom. I have two pom pom makers (in different sizes) and I used the smaller one (2.5''), but if you don't have one, there are lots of tutorials online to make pom poms. It is actually a great thing to do with children and to reduce your yarn leftovers.
Once you've made the pom poms, use fabric glue to attach them to the hair clips.
Let the glue dry, The best way is ti keep the clip open once it dries to make sure your are gluing only the pom pom, not the clip itself.
Make a pair, and enjoy!

Cute hair clips. I used to make ribbon hair clips for my daughter when see was little. I totally understand keeping yarn for a long time. I am in my fifties and still have some unused yarn from my teen years.
ReplyDeleteReally cute hairclips!
ReplyDeleteVery cute and easy to make hair clips. I have TONS of yarn, most of it high end merino and silk, that is just sitting in a large tote in ziplock bags. I was an avid knitter for almost 20 years and just picked up quilting 2 years ago. Haven't touched my needles since but I'm hoping to get back to it again. Thanks for linking up to Anything Goes Monday.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet... I'm such my nieces would enjoy these in their school colours!
