This year I've been too busy to tackle a lot of Eater projects, but because I always like to have something handmade for my kids on Easter Sunday, I decided to make some felt bunnies.
They are a cute gift, but they also make a great Easter decor, and if I have time I may try to make a few more to spread around the house.
If you want to make one too, check the tutorial below:
- the Felt Easter Bunny Template (download here)
- felt in any color you like (enough to cut two bunny pieces from the template)
- cute ribbon
- polyester filling
- matching sewing thread
- two small pompoms (for the bunny tail)
- two glue-on eyes (if you're making the bunny for a baby or a toddler, use safety eyes or cut them from bits of black and white felt, and sew them on instead of gluing)
- fabric glue
How to:
Download and cut the template, and then trace two bunny shapes onto the felt. Felt doesn't have a right and a wrong side, but unless you're using disappearing ink you'll want to trace the bunny pieces as shown below, and then consider as "wrong" sides the sides the sides where you've drawn on the felt (just to make sure no sign of your traces is visible).
Cut the felt, place the two pieces right sides together and sew around the edge, leaving a small opening at the bottom. Fill with polyester filling and sew the opening shut.
By now, it should look like this:
Glue on the eyes and the pompoms (I used two small pompoms glued one in either side of the bunny, so that you can see its tail when you turn it around).
Now tie the ribbon around the bunny's neck with a cute bow and you're done!
After making the pink bunny for my daughter, I also made a blue one for my son:
And here are the two bunnies happily together waiting for Easter:
Now, you need to go and make at least one too!
Have a wonderful week,
Oh my glob, these are so cute!
