The ABC Crafts Series: D is for...Doilies
Welcome to this week's edition of the ABC Crafts Series. We have finally reached D, to show you some wonderful uses for old doilies. I have many of these at home, made by my grandmother and some even by my great-grandmother. I rarely use them, but I can't bring myself to get rid of them, not only because they enclose a lot of memories but also because of the amount of work that was put into them a long time ago and that would be wasted otherwise.
So this is the purpose of today's post: give you some great ideas to turn those old doilies into something not only beautiful, but also useful! All fairly easy to make and with clear instructions.
Check them out below:

I hope you enjoyed this little collection of doily crafts. Next week we will stick to letter D still, and hopefully I'll be able to share with you some amazing DIY projects.
In case you missed previous posts, the ABC Crafts series will be covering one (or more) crafts for each letter of the alphabet during 2016. Each roundup features 5 links, grouped around the major theme. All links posted will be DIY tutorials with clear instructions and/or free patterns, so that everyone can easily replicate them.
I've created a specific page for the series, which will include links to the crafts already covered, and a list of upcoming topics. You can find the page here. If you have suggestions for any of the topics, feel free to leave me a comment or send me an e-mail and I will try to include your ideas as much as possible (with proper credit)!
I used to have tons of my Granny's old doilys. What clever ideas these are. Thanks for sharing with us on Thursday Favorite Things! Your post has been pinned.

DeleteWhat fun ideas. I may have to start crocheting a bunch of doilies because I'm in love with the table cloth with the doilies. Thanks for sharing at the #ThisIsHowWeRoll Link Party on Organized 31.
ReplyDeleteYou can either make them, or try to find some cool ones in a thrift store. Either way, that tablecloth is really a great idea!
DeleteThis post brought back some fond memories. When we lived in Jamaica, many of my students would crochet and they made lovely items. The made doilies and starched them so they were shaped into bowls.
ReplyDeleteNow I need to find my crochet hooks.
