Hello, and welcome! Christmas is almost here, and as usual I'm always looking for eco-friendly gift wrap ideas. So this time I'm going to show you a crochet gift bag I made using granny squares.
...Which means that in addition to getting a cute bag, I also managed to use a series of yarn scraps. Win-win all the way!
I made eight granny squares and joined them in groups of four.
Then I added a couple of rows of double crochet around the top edges of the bag:
And a border:
The pattern for the border is very easy: three double crochets + chain two + three double crochets in one stitch, skip two stitches and repeat until the end.
And finally I made a cord (chaining two strings of yarn together) with tassels as an added embellishment:
If you make one of these bags (they are really very easy and come together pretty quickly), you can use it as is, or add a lining. Because I'm going to use this bag to wrap a set of small items, I preferred to add lining (sides and bottom machine sewn; top of the lining hand sewn to the crochet):
