Sweet unicorn hoop wall art DIY

Hello, and welcome! This past weekend I decided to start working on some Christmas gifts. Inspired by a few Pinterest posts, I wanted to make some hoop wall art for one of my cousins...and in the end my daughter decided she wanted the unicorn for herself so it's now hanging in her bedroom...

Oh well, I'll think of something else to make as a gift (only because I used all the unicorn fabric I had - it was just a scrap anyway...) and I'll just give you here an idea of how I made it.

I used an inexpensive hoop found at the Portuguese equivalent of the dollar store - as I wasn't using it for embroidery I wasn't overly concerned with quality.

I centered the fabric and secured it over the hoop. The excess fabric in the back was gathered and then covered with a piece of pink felt (glued in place).

And then I just added some embellishments (of course): four pompoms in matching colors and three of those stick-on faux crystals - in yellow, pink and blue,, to match the rainbow.

And that was really it. As a project, it was a very quick one - it took longer for the glue I used for the pompoms to dry than to assemble the whole thing.

And I have to confess it does look great in my daughter's room...
