DIY coaster - with popsicle sticks!

Hello, and welcome to my latest tutorial: how to make a pretty (and useful) coaster with popsicle sticks.

All you need are popsicle sticks, glue and a little patience (just to wait for the glue to dry).

To start, gather 15 popsicle sticks. Mine were about 11 cm long by 1,5 cm wide.

Stack three popsicle sticks and glue them together. Repeat two more times until you have three of these sets:

Place those three sets at regular intervals and glue four popsicle sticks on top, as shown below. At this point, it's easier to start with the extremities and work your way towards the middle. Using a ruler (or a quilting ruler, like I did) helps to ensure all the right angles).

Let the glue dry and then add the last two popsicle sticks on the underside of your coaster:

Once the glue is completely dry, your new coaster is ready to be used (you can easily paint it too, but I much prefer this raw wood look, so I left it as it was):

And here's how it looks now in our guest bedroom - which also doubles as my craft room so I often have a glass of water or a cup of tea there with me and I really needed a safe place to put them down:
