DIY custom name banners

Hello, and welcome. Christmas is fast approaching, so I've been busy trying to finish a few homemade gifts ahead of time. This weekend I finally managed to complete two name banners that the recipients (three year old and nine year old girls, in this case) can hang in their rooms.

Both the letters and the owls were cut using my Sizzix. To be honest, I could have used different themes, but I kind of liked the owl idea after I made the first banner, so I just changed the colors for the second one.

As I was (surprise!) pressed for time, I didn't create a full photo tutorial for these banners. I used two pieces of felt for the banner itself (sewn on top to create a casing for the wood stick that keeps it all together). Everything else is just glued on.

As you can see, they are slightly different, just because one of the names was longer than the other, which required a larger banner. As in that one the ends of the stick were not visible, I had to come up with a different way to hang in on the wall:

All in all, these are very easy to make, and they are a cute gift either for girls or boys - you can just change colors and themes to match their tastes, bedroom decor, etc.
