Work in progress Monday: cross stitch

Usually by the time Monday rolls in I have at least one finished project to post about. This week, however, there was no time to complete anything.

We arrived from our vacation late last week and I have been working 'round the clock to get things ready for the new school year, so even though I have several completed things from before our vacation, I did not have time to take pictures and write appropriate posts.

I'm also planning a photo recap of our summer vacation in southern Portugal but we still need to download the pictures from our phones and my husband's camera, so it will also have to wait.

In the meantime, however, I'm sharing some work in progress to prove (to myself, at least) that crafting has not stopped in our house.

It's an alphabet cross stitch that I started over two years ago to hang in my daughter's room. It was supposed to have been ready by her second birthday but then life got in the way and it was stored in a closet and forgotten.

We have recently decided to repaint her room, to turn it into a big girl room (hopefully the redo will be ready by her 4th birthday party next saturday and maybe I'll be able to share some photos then too) so I went in search of it and decided to finish it.

I'm now in letter K so not even 50% yet but I've set a new target for completion: Christmas. Want to bet?

So yes, I still have a lot of work ahead of me (and the fabric is in desperate need of some ironing) but the wheels are in motion. I'll let you know as soon as I have some progress.

And what about you? What unfinished projects have you got stored in your closets?

  1. That is so sweet! I'm sure she'll appreciate it even if you finish it when she's 12. I think it looks awesome! Are you free handing it?

  5. I'm glad to know I'm not the only Mom whose desire to craft gets supplanted by kid, life, etc. I think your cross stitch is adorable. I have a baby blanket I've been crocheting for five years. I think I'll try to get it finished by Christmas, too. Want to race? :) Thanks for the post.
