Crochet flower garden tabletop

Remember the t-shirt I recovered using crochet flowers (if you missed it, you can read about it here). At the time, I had just started crocheting flowers in shades of pink, yellow and green. Now finally the table top I envisioned for my daughter's room is finished!

Scroll down to find out how I made it:

I started by crocheting 33 flowers in shades of two shades of pink, yellow and green, alternating the order of the colors  as I went along.

The pattern for these African flowers isn't mine - it's a free pattern and you can find it here: Free African Flower Crochet Pattern • Craft Passion.

Once I had all flowers crocheted, I added the white edging (also on the original pattern) and decided on placement.

Initially I thought about using a soft brown color for the edges, but since the I was making the tabletop  for my daughter's white dresser, I ended up using white. That way the flowers kind of stand out from the background.

Joining all the flowers was a bit of a challenge. I tested several alternatives and ended up joining them with a single crochet since it gives the flowers a sort of 3D-ish honeycomb effect I really like.

And here is the finished tabletop, already in place:

Have fun and happy Wednesday!
