(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - at the museum

Last weekend we went to the museum. More specifically, to the Carris Museum, that houses the old trams and buses that used to circulated in Lisbon. 

Carris is the company that manages the Lisbon trams and buses still today, and they have created a wonderful display that begins with the first trams that were used as public transportation in the city (horse pulled) to the most modern ones (and also includes old documents, tickets, models, etc, a rather interesting collection through which the history of the company - and, in a way, of Lisbon - is told). 

 

All vehicles are open, so you can step inside and have a look, sit down and even tweak the controls. And the cherry on top of the cake was that we got to ride a real tram, from the early 20th century! Just the four of us and the driver.

The museum is divided between three different buildings, and to go from one building to another you take the tram. My son, who's been fascinated my anything with wheels since he was born, really loved this. 

The Carris Museum is (sadly) a bit off the beaten path in relation to the more well-known tourist attractions, but if you ever visit Lisbon, I totally recommend it. You can find more info here (web page is available in English and Portuguese).
